| Nicky Hayden products 2006 MotoGP World Champion, Nicky Hayden is a no nonsense racer who has a huge global following. Nicky won the AMA Superbike Championship in 2002 and was immediately signed to join Honda’s MotoGP racing efforts. He was not only riding what was regarded as the best bike at the time but he joined what is arguably the premier team in MotoGP racing, Repsol Honda. Nicky was seemingly unfazed by this as well as the fact that he was team mate to one Valentino Rossi and he capped an impressive debut season by being awarded “rookie of the year”. Nicky’s MotoGP world title came in 2006 after a very tough year. Having led the championship for most of the season, he was knocked off in the penultimate race by his teammate, Dani Pedrosa. This left Nicky trailing Valentino by 8 points going into the final race of the year at Valencia. Nobody really gave Nicky a chance of breaking Valentino’s 5 year streak of premier class world titles but after Vale crashed on lap 5, trying to make up for a poor start, Nicky finished 3rd and claimed the title.
